Guy Gilbert Gerry, 85, Rangely, died Friday, April 16, 1982, at the Rangely District Hospital after a sudden illness.

A retired farmer, Mr. Gerry was born June 17, 1896, at Glenrock, Wyoming, where he resided until the age of 6. From there he moved to the New Liberty area, north of Loma. Mr. Gerry lived there until 1948 and then moved to Rangely.

He was married to Minta Byers December 31, 1948, at Meeker. She died April 21, 1981.

Mr. Gerry previously was married to Bernice Clark February 26, 1917. She died in 1936.

Mr. Gerry was interested in lapidary work, was a rock-hound and enjoyed woodworking.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rangely, was a past member of the Rangely Masonic Lodge & and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Gerry was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and two stepsons, Max and Bill Byers.

Mr. Gerry's survivors include one daughter, Naomi Waite, of Ogden, Utah; three sons, Clark of Phoenix, Arizona, Bruce, of Rangely and Leonard of Hotchkiss; one stepdaughter, Joyce Smith of Fruita; two stepsons, Leland Byers of Denver and Gordon Byers of Rangely; one brother, Woodrow, of Collbran; one sister Julia Gosnell, of Grand Junction; and 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

McLean Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
