Opal Mae Collier, 85, of Poteau, OK passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Poteau. Opal was born May 5, 1932 in Shady Point, OK to Robert & Minnie (Cagle) York.

Opal loved all children as if they were her own. She had a fiery passion for Jesus Christ. One of her hobbies was quilting. She had one of the best green thumbs around. She was so loving that she never met a stranger. Opal was a member of Shepherd's Heart Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Collier (9/30/88); sisters, Wanda McCain & Helen Marcus; brother, Kenny York.

Survivors include her sisters, JoAnn Thomas of Oklahoma City, Mary Ellen Crock of MA; brothers, Rayburn York of McCloud, OK, Alvin York of Spiro, OK and Sherman York of Cameron, OK; son, Chris VanMeter of Poteau; other relatives, loved ones and many beloved friends.

There will be visitation Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Memorial services will be 11 am, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Clyde Hess officiating.
