Albert W. Staar, a Guilford resident, died of cancer on Friday, Feb. 4, at home. He was 62.

Born Jun 18, 1937, in New York City, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Helen (Pletz) Staar.

Mr. Staar was state president of the Exchange Club in 1984. He had served as president of the Stamford Exchange Club and of St. George Parish Council in Guilford. Mr Staar was a board member of the St. George Stewardship Committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Guilford.

Mr. Staar was a Eucharistic minister at St. George Church and was in the process of becoming a deacon. Mr. Staar was president of the New Haven Car Dealer's Association.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosalie; a son, William; two brothers, Richard and George; and three sisters, Frances, Helen, and Lynn.

A procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, and head to the St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guildford, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery in Guilford.
