Alger Sheldon, Sr., self-employed investment banker
A funeral for Alger Sheldon, Sr., a self-employed investment banker, will be at 2 p.m. today at his Grosse Pointe Farms home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Sheldon, 88, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a member of the Grosse Pointe Club, the Detroit Club, the Bayview Yacht Club, the Country Club of Detroit, the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, the U.S. Power Squadron, the Founders Society of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Zoological Society.
He attended Yale University, New Haven, Conn., and served in the Navy during World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Duffield Sheldon; two sons, Francis and Alger Jr., and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.

Member of the Sons of the American Revolution #33648 under ancestor Lt. Eli Brownson, Vermont, Served at the Battle of Bennington.
