NORFOLK — Private family services for Gayl H. Haave, 89, of Norfolk were Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk with John Petersen officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Gayl H. Haave, son of Henry and Lena (Shunaman) Haave, was born July 29, 1925, on a farm near Petersburg. He received his education at District 62 rural school near Petersburg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He married Leona Kvamme on March 12, 1949, at South Branch Lutheran Church in rural Albion. The couple were blessed with eight children. They farmed for 40 years in Nebraska and Illinois, and Gayl also drove a truck during this time.
He is survived by six children, Janeen (John) Scheurich of Hoskins, Randy Haave of Omaha, Kathie (Bill) Short of Norfolk, Rick (Jill) Haave of Lincoln, Lisa (James) Aschoff of Milford, Scott (Julie) Haave of Papillion, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Gayl was preceded in death by his wife, one son in infancy, one daughter and one grandson.
