Alice Ruth Vandenberg, 84, of Altus died Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Fort Smith.
She was born June 25, 1932, in WaKeeney, Kan.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Altus Eagles Hall, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, was of the Catholic faith and the widow of Robert Vandenberg Sr.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.

She is survived by five daughters, Roxie Garner of Altus, Mary Boren of Bella Vista, Beth Vandenberg of Ozark, Judy Delossantos of Muskogee and Pam Vandenberg of Springdale; a son, Robert Vandenberg Jr. of McFall, Mo.; a sister, Elizabeth Trotter of Mulberry; two brothers, William Schaffer of Ozark and Sam Schaffer of Belleville; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Daniel and Paul Garner, Dustin Boren, Robert, Robby and Phillip Vandenberg, Logan and Tanner Aman and Andrew Soenksen.
