JIMMIE LORETTA ABBOTT, age 78, of LaFayette passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Cornerstone Medical. She was born February 2, 1939 in LaFayette to the late Shannon Kirk and Mae Barton Ponder. Prior to retirement, Jimmie worked as a machine operator for Queen Carpet.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Lamar Abbott; brother, John Kirk; and sister, Yvonne Willingham.
Survived by son, Terry (Vickie Abbott of LaFayette; grandchildren, Brooke (Allen) Smith, Shannon Abbott, Jerome (Cindy) Templeton; great grandchildren, Hayden, Tanner, Logan, Sable; sisters, Maxine McCallister and Cathy (LaGary) Hewitt) all of LaFayette; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 5 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Thompson officiating.
Interment in LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerome Templeton, John Kirk, A.J. Carroll, Tim McCallister, LaGary Hewitt, Lonnie Gilreath, and Allen Smith.
Visitation at the funeral home Sunday from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m.
