Margaret (Foshe) McCauley, 91, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at The Bridges at Ramsey Village in Des Moines after a long battle with Vascular Dementia.
She was born on November 17, 1932 near Colfax, Iowa by midwife to Frank and Esther (Egerdal) Foshe.
She retired from the VA Hospital in 1994 after more than 17 years. She enjoyed her grandsons, gambling (especially in Las Vegas), traveling and reading, before macular degeneration reduced her eyesight and vascular dementia stole her concentration and memory.
She married Bill McCauley on November 17, 1956 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, which used to be just south of Dogpatch, where they lived in their early married years.
She is survived by her daughter Betty (Hesseltine) and her husband Ron and their sons Ty and Matthew, and a son Blake. Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her mother and father, Frank and Esther Foshe, a sister Fran Briant, and her brothers, Wayne and Gene Foshe as well as many well-loved and missed pets.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and her remains scattered at a future date. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either Suncrest Home Health & Hospice or the Animal Rescue League.
