Came to Putnam in 1872 following marriage to Charity Jayne, daughter Timothy and Pheobe Elizabeth (Plimpton) Jayne, a Wheaton College graduate, and a descendant of the Long Island Jayne's. Was engaged in building many new additions to town of Putnam. Owner of Wheaton Building & Lumber. Member of Congregational Church, serving as a deacon. Up-standing member of community. Children: Mary, Frank, Walter (Fire Chief of Putnam - 1934), Henry, Willie and Raymond.
