He was born in Jackson on June 24, 1954. He attended South Side High School.
Ronnie worked at Gannett (The Jackson Sun) for several years. He enjoyed playing music and spending time with his friends.
Ronnie is survived by his step-son Dustin Smith and his fur baby, Fancy.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Myrene Jones; brothers, Freddie and Dannie; his maternal grandparents, Wesley and Bedie Stegall and paternal grandparents, Vester and Nilla Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Friday evening, June 16, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Steve Fullington officiating.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank Avalon Hospice, Douglas Nursing Home, and the wonderful friends that followed Ronnie's journey and the wonderful staff at Vanderbilt Oncology Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to a charity of your choice in Ronnie's honor.
