Alfred Burton Mays, 75 of Rt. 3, Granite Falls, died last Thursday morning at his residence after a period of declining health.
He was born June 3, 1901, in Caldwell Co., the son of the late Columbus and Anna Rebecca Payne Mays.
Mays who was a retired taxi driver was a member of Concord Baptist church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Robnor Hoyle Mays; four daughters, Marie Reid of Granite Falls, Wilma Warren of Wilmington, Myrtle Kaylor of Hildebran and Pearl Truesdale of Vale; three sons Alfred Paul Mays of Cedartown, GA, Rondle H. Mays of Hickory and Leonard Mays of Granite Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Cecile Williams of Homestead, FL and Mrs. Cloyd Smith of Hickory; one brother Nathan Mays of Havre, MT, 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Mackie-High Funeral Home chapel last Saturday at 2 pm. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
