Tehersa Kathy (Rider) Burns, 58, of Oklahoma City, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017. She was born January 7, 1959, to Henry James and Rena Elizabeth (Bowling) Rider in Norman.

Tehersa married the love of her life, Lonnie J. Burns, Jr., July 4, 1976 in Blanchard. They were married for 40 years and 11 months. Tehersa was very active in church life and was a pastor’s wife at several churches in Clinton, Hammon, and Kansas. She taught Sunday school and played piano. She also worked in accounting, then as a social work case worker for years and put the needs of others ahead of herself outside of work as well. Tehersa loved to give and was a very creative person who was into crafting and decorating. She liked to organize gatherings for the family and cook delicious meals for those she loved. Tehersa enjoyed listening to 60s and 70s oldies tunes, praise and worship music and Southern Gospel music. She loved gardening, travel, shopping and spoiling everyone around her, especially her granddaughter, Maevyn. Tehersa was intensely beloved and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie J. Burns, Jr., of the home in Oklahoma City; daughter, Jessica Burns and spouse, Rebecca Johnson, of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Maevyn Burns, of Oklahoma City; sister, Elaine Conder and husband Rick, of Blanchard; nephew, Rick Conder, of Chickasha; niece, Miranda Conder, of Plano, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in law Lonnie J. Burns, Sr., and Norma Burns, of Moore; brother in-law Carl Yeary and wife Irene, of Moore; many cousins and other family members and friends; and her puppy, Pebbles, the light of her life.

Tehersa is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rena Rider; and infant twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Rider.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home and Chapel.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2017, in the John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel, 120 S. Broadway in Moore.

Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
