A.P. was born in Opp, Ala., on May 14, 1923, and moved to Laurel Hill in 1936, where he resided until he moved to Sea Level in 1998. He was a Merchant Marine for 31 years and a farmer for 20 years. A.P. was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge of Laurel Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Othell Day; his parents, Levi and Queen Day; and his brothers, William H. Day and Albert T. Day.
A.P. is survived by his sons, Andy P. Day of Bowling Green, Ky., and Alan P. Day and his wife Joanne of Laurel Hill; his daughter, Joyce D. Patterson of South Carolina; his brother, Hinton F. Day and his wife Gloria of Laurel Hill; his sisters, Sara D. Bonnell of Crestview, Fla., Mary D. Wells and her husband Jack of Crestview, and Sue D. Nixon and her husband Haywood of Crestview; grandchildren, Matthew A. Patterson, Andrea J. Day, Killin Elrich Day, Zane Easton Day and Ayianna Briette Day; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, beginning at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Cadenhead officiating. Burial will follow at Almarante Cemetery.
