He was born on August 1, 1937 in Lafayette to the late Harry and Ethel V. (Casad) German. On June 17, 1957 he married Marilyn Joyce Hartke at the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. She preceded him in death May 11, 2007. On April 12, 2008 he married the former Bonnie "B.J." (Alkire) Wray at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Monticello and she survives.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Wolcott High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
He was a plumbing, heating and air mechanical technician for J. Miller Mechanical from which he retired in 2000 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds where he had served as a trustee. He was passionate about keeping all the heating and air systems up and running at the church and was the project manager when the church elevator was installed.
Don is survived by sons, Gary W. (Kelley) German, Mark (Christine) German and Tony (Dara) Wray; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were brothers, James E. German, Marion G. German and Emmett D. German.
