Son of Jesse Houze East and Mary L."Maggie" Brown. He married Mary Mozelle Barton on 19 Dec 1917 in Walton County, GA. He farmed land in Jersey, Walton County along P.J. East Rd. and worked the railroad in Corbin, KY. Involved in Governor Jimmy Carter's election campaign with farmers of Walton County.

His wife, Mozelle, died in 1960. In February 16, 1961, he married Tavie Copeland Kitchens. She was a 1st cousin to Mozelle.
