Olivia "Olive" (White) Shorter was the daughter of Silas Dee White and Emily Ophelia (Hale) White. Olivia married Baxter Shorter. In April 1963, Baxter was kidnapped from their home at 121 N. Flower Street (Lancaster Apartments) in Bunker Hill, Los Angeles, California. He was kidnapped by two men he helped rob the home of Mabel Monahan (he was to break into her safe). Mabel was murdered during the robbery (April 1953). Baxter was turning state witness when he disappeared and presumed murdered by two of the men involved in the robbery, Emmett Perkins and Jack Santos (kidnapping witnessed by Olivia). Baxter was declared legally dead in 1960.

Olivia's tombstone shows she died October 25, 1968. California death record shows she died October 26, 1968.
