Daughter of James Edwards and Mary. She married William Pulaski Barton, Sr on 21 Aug 1865 in Monroe, Walton County, GA. They had six children. She was the sister of Mary Molly Edwards who married Jacob Autry of Eastville and also the sister of Cicero Eugenius Edwards who married her mother-in-law, Lucinda McCarty Barton.
She and her husband made wicker style chairs in Walton County. Sarah died from burns she suffered after her petticoat caught fired while she was preparing oak splints for the chair bottoms. She is buried in an unmarked grave in the Barton-Edwards Cemetery in Walton Co.
