Mr. Richard Henry Thomas Sr., peacefully entered into eternal rest June 2, 2015, in Las Vegas, with his family by his side, He was born May 6, 1938, in Newport News, Va. He was employed by Timet Metals Corperation for 33 years and took classes at Southern Nevada Community College. Mr. Thomas graduated from Huntington High School, class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, and was a 55-year resident of Las Vegas. Richard was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan win or lose. He was fun, loving and was known to make you laugh. He was a true friend to the ones who were lucky enough to be in his life, but if he was deceived by you, it was hard to get a second chance. Richard was a straightforward guy. He didn't pin friendship labels on many people He will truly be missed by all that knew him. Richard also loved the Lord and he would make prayer a part of his daily life and would read his Bible often. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, Junius Thomas and Rebecca Thomas; stepmother, Leona Thomas; brothers, Junius Shell Thomas and Ruben Eley; sister, Louise Chambers; and nephew, Derek Roberson II. Richard leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, of 45 years, Ruby Thomas; three sons, Pastor Richard Henry (Nychell) Thomas II, Patrick Thomas and Eric Wheaton; one daughter, Wanda Thomas; and grandchildren, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Lee Roy (Cora Mae) Thomas of Newport News, and Fred Simmons of Washington, D.C.; three sisters-in-laws, Bernice Thomas of Newport News, Lavern Archie of San Bernadino, Calif., and Lillie Thompson of Las Vegas; brother-in-law, Pastor Willie C. (Jerry) Wheaton of Las Vegas; special stepgrandson, Tyrell Pratt; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services were previously held in Newport News.
