Arnold Max Solomon (Sonny) passed away in San Diego, California June 16, 2017 at the age of 92. He was born in Marinette, Wisconsin and graduated from Park High School in Racine. Arnold volunteered for the draft during WWII and was proud to be a frontline Jewish soldier on a Browning automatic rifle crew in the US Army infantry. He received the Bronze Star as part of the European Rhineland Campaign. In 1950 Arnold earned a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. For twenty-four years Arnold worked in engineering with the Automatic Electric Division of GTE in Chicago. In 1981 he retired to San Diego. In retirement Arnold digitally recorded his family history and war experiences, built intricate model airplanes, played classical guitar, and kept up with all aspects of technology for which he had a lifelong undiminished passion. Shortly before losing his battle with pancreatic cancer he was considering buying a Tesla. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents Isadore and Dora (Stein) Solomon, sisters Pearl, Evelyn, Bea, Grace, and Ruth, nephew Jeff, and niece Judy. He was the beloved uncle to Darcy, David, Max, Glenn, Randy, Linda, Dorie, Robert, and Beth as well as a special friend of Martha for fifty years. Funeral services with interment and Full Military Honors will be at 12:30 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery, 612 Lathrop Avenue.
