Adele Ivey Carr, 97, of Goldsboro, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

Adele was born April 24, 1916, in Seven Springs to the late Charles Wesley Ivey and Frankie Kivett Ivey.

She attended business school at what is now UNC-Greensboro. She retired from Roy Jones Pontiac where she was office manager/bookkeeper. She also assisted the public with tax preparation. Adele loved bingo and playing the lottery.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. from Seven Springs United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Seven Springs UMC Cemetery.

Adele is survived by three grandchildren, Bob Ivey Smith and wife, Donna, of La Grange, Kaye Smith Davis of Swansboro, Tom Smith of Goldsboro; a daughter-in-law Ann Smith of Seven Springs; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Wesley Smith, Callie Davis, Kristen Lewis, Elliott Davis and Addison Smith; one great-great grandchild, Carly Smith; two brothers, Kivett Ivey of La Grange and William S. Ivey of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two special nephews and their families, Ted Ivey and wife, Jewel, and their children, Harriett and Esther, and Bob Ivey and wife, Donna, and their children, Emery and Marlowe; along with several other special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Adele was preceded in death by a son, Charles Robert “Bob” Smith; two brothers, Charles W. Ivey Jr. and Harry Ivey; and four sisters, Thedosia Ivey, Florence Ivey, Sara Ivey Taylor and Doris Ivey Stewart.
