Joan B. Bowden 81, passed away August 2, 2016. Joan was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and resided in Raritan and Bridgewater before moving to Somerset in 2015. She graduated from Somerset County College with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts. She worked at Bridgewater-Raritan H.S. East in the Guidance Office and then as a social worker for 21 years at Somerset County Social Services, retiring in 1996. A member of the Somerville Elks Lodge and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Joan actively served on the Altar Guild, Bible Study group, and quilting club. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Somerset Medical Center and County Food Bank. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and many friends. Joan will be sadly missed by all.

She is predeceased by her husband William K. Bowden, who died in 2002. Surviving Joan are her sons, William Bowden, Jr. and wife Christine, and Glenn Bowden and wife Angie; her daughters, Deborah Boettcher and husband Edward, June Ambs and husband Kurt, and Lori Frankosky and husband Gary; two brothers, Thomas and Harry Bowden; ten grandchildren, Kimberly, Erica, Clinton, Lindsey, Ryan, Corey, Matthew, Jillian, Jane, and Kate; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am Saturday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 300 Union Ave, Somerville. Interment will be private. Visitation will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm Friday at the Bruce C.
