In the 1900 census Carrie was living in Minden, Nebraska with her daughter Viola, where Carrie stated her occupation as a nurse. She was a long-time resident of Minden, Nebraska and at one time owned a millinery shop in that city. In 1903 she retired and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. By 1918 she had moved west to Colorado. After her son Willie's wife died in 1919 she became the primary mother figure to Willie's two children, moving with them to California. She was a resident of Redwood City, San Mateo County, California at the time of her death.
