Dennis R. Leonard, 74, of Center Street, Donaldson, passed away June 21 in the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 16, 1942, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late George W. and Marian E. Schaeffer Leonard.
Denny was a 1960 graduate of Tremont High School and a 1961 graduate of Harrisburg Barber School. He had been employed for 23 years as a machine feeder for Garden State Tannery, Fleetwood, before retiring in 2004 and was employed at the former Minnig Funeral Home, Tremont, for 21 years. He was a member of the Salem UCC Church, Donaldson.
He was presented a certificate of life membership for the Donaldson Fire Company in 2008 after 43 years of service. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kutztown; Kutztown Fire Company; Pine Grove Fish & Game; and various other social clubs. Denny was the former organist at St. John's UCC, Newtown, and the backup organist for Salem UCC, Donaldson.
Denny is survived by cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Eugene Harner officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be given to the Salem UCC, Donaldson, c/o Eugene Harner, 417 W. Center St., Donaldson, PA 17981, in his memory.
