Orah Bell Mears, 76, of Brazoria passed from this life on June 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Freeport to Hares and Lula Strother on April 24, 1941.
Orah Bell was absolutely the most caring and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Our fondest memories are of her spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door was always open and you never left hungry. She made sure to always remind you that you were never alone in your problems. She enjoyed driving the bus for CBISD for 20+ years. She will be greatly missed, but we have peace knowing we will see her again.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Wild Peach Community Church with Kenny James officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Clint Mears, Jeremy Michael Mears, Justin Mears, Cory Mears, Rory Mears and Cody Mears. Honorary pallbearers are also grandsons, Darrell Mears, Brad Mears, Mitchell Mears and Michael Wesley Mears.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Randy Mears & wife, Janie, Rex Mears & wife, Janet, Ricky Mears & wife, Jana, Terry Mears & wife, DeDe, Michael Mears & wife, Debbie, Peggy Mears; brothers, Everette Strother, D. W. Strother Sr., William Strother, and Clifford Strother; sisters, LueEllen Bergen and Patsy Tompkins; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
