Elmer Elsworth Haverfield was born on November 2, 1865, to Ruhannah D Nash, age 42, and William Stitt Haverfield, age 53. In 1877 Elmer moved to Kansas with his parents where they homesteaded in Fenton PO, Rush County, Kansas. Elmer never married and cared for his parents until their deaths in 1887 and 1893. After his sister, Margaret Jane, passed away in 1895 and her husband, Charles Slocum, passed away in 1896, Elmer cared for their daughters at the old homestead. In addition to farming the "Two Corners Farm", Elmer served as Postmaster for the Fenton PO from 1888 to 1894. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge No. 129.
