Obituary: Lewis LaMont Pilkington, 102, died July 31, 1994.

Born January 15, 1892 in Smithfield, Utah, to William and Margaret Alice Farrell Pilkington. Married Doris Lyon, December 18, 1912. She died November 27, 1918. Married Genevieve Frank September 15, 1920. She died April 9, 1978. Both marriages were solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Monte was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission to Australia in 1924-26. He served in many callings in the church including Sunday School, music director, bishopric, High Council and High Priest Group Leader. He was a scriptorian, he followed the Master's admonition "Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life".

Monte was a master carpenter. He worked with his father and brother in Smithfield on many building projects. He worked for Intermountain Theatres and helped build theatres in several communities. He worked 25 years as a cabinet maker for the Davis School District. During his mission he helped build a chapel in Hobart, Tasmania.

Monte never had children of his own but is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He had six brothers and two sisters. They all preceded him in death.

Many thanks to his wonderful neighbors and friends for their care and concern the past few years. Also to the kind and gentle caregivers at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield the past 15 months.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 4, 1994 at 12 noon at the Kaysville LDS Rock Chapel, 25 South 200 East, Kaysville. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main Street and Thursday at the church from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Smithfield City Cemetery.
