Miss Grace Davern was born in Tipperary county, Ireland, Feb.20th, 1854, her parents being Patrick & Katherine Davern. When she was three yrs of age her parents migrated to America & located on the old homestead, two miles southeast of Pewamo, MI where her girlhood days were spent.

On July 18th, 1872 she was united in marriage at Hubbardston to Patrick Cosgriff & a few years later they came to Pewamo to make their home & where Mr.Cosgriff passed to his reward Feb.9th, 1892. Four children were born to Mr.& Mrs.Cosgriff: Mrs.Wilber Vance, of Pewamo; William Cosgriff of Freeport;, Edward Cosgriff of Springfield, Mo., & Miss Nellie Cosgriff of Pewamo village.

Mrs.Cosgriff was a member of the local lodge Degree of Honor & had during the course of her membership served in many official capacities with credit & respect to the order. She was a devoted member of St.Joseph's church & always aided in every manner possible the work of that institution. She was tenderly layed to rest by her two sons, Edward & William, & two brothers, William & James Davern, Wilber Vance, a son-in-law & J.Cunningham, a nephew from Hubbardston, who acted as pallbearers.

She rests today conscious of earthly labors well performed & her memory will always be of pleasant remembrance to those who knew her.
