Leona Haesler, 94, of St. Paul, formerly of Loup City, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Brookfield Park Nursing Home in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City, with the Rev. Jim Koontz officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.

Leona M. Haesler was born Aug. 21, 1922, on a farm near Loup City to Carl and Louise (Schwaderer) Obermiller.

She attended Wiggle Creek Consolidated School near Loup City, graduating in 1942.

On Nov. 9, 1946, she married Elmer Haesler at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Loup City. They had two sons.

Elmer and Leona lived on a farm near Loup City until Elmer's death on Jan. 21, 1988.

Leona moved to town in 1992.

Leona was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Loup City since March 1956.

She also belonged to the Birthday Club and Extension Club for many years.

She enjoyed ceramics and gardening.

Leona is survived by her son, David, and wife, Kay, of Phillips; grandchildren, Dwight Haesler and Lauren Rees; great-grandchildren, Nova and Silas Rees; and a sister-in-law, Betty Wrehe.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Larry; and sister, Leila Palmgren.
