Dale David Ives, age 78 of Alger, formerly of Elsie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning, MI. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, July 7.
Dale was born on April 30, 1939 to Guard R. and Margaret (David) Ives in Flint.
He served in the United States Army Reserves.
He married Barbara Kettler on September 10, 1961; they later separated, and Dale then married Sherrilyn Bailey on February 16, 1980.
During his life, Dale worked for GM for many years. He also owned and operated his own trucking business.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman - he loved hunting deer, driving his trucks, and horses. He was also a member of American Legion. Above all, Dale loved spending time with his family and friends.
Dale is survived by his sons, Dale (Leslie) Ives and David (Patty) Ives; his step-sons, Dennis Sexton and Kenneth Bailey; his grandchildren, Barbara, Jason, Kayla, Danny, Dale II, and Chelsea; his siblings, Randy (Mary Lou) Ives, Miriam Colden, and Shari Heathcoat; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Guard and Margaret Ives; his first wife, Barbara; his second wife, Sherrilyn; his 2 brothers, Donald and Arnold; and his 3 sisters, Audrey, Linda, and Gail. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
