She then met and married John Taylor on Feb 29, 1921, where they both lived and raised their family of seven children: Aybrey Taylor; Audrey Taylor (killed in Italy); Agnes Inez Taylor; Willie Ina Taylor; mary Janelle Taylor; Johnnie Faye Taylor; and Estel Maxwell Taylor.

Bertie's husband John served on the board of deacons in the Baptist churches Zora and Philippi for about thirty-five years.
