Roland J. Collodi, 83, of New Kensington, died at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 12, 2005, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born March 19, 1922, in Butler, he lived in Arnold most of his life. During World War II, he served in the Coast Guard. He worked for PPG Industries in Creighton and at Westinghouse in Cheswick. In his younger years, he played semi-professional softball. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Beveridge Collodi; a son, Paul (Jaquelyn) Collodi of Lafayette, Ind.; two daughters, Kathy (David) Duncan of Arnold and Susan (James) Bires of Lower Burrell; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Caroline Ansani Collodi; four brothers, George, Oscar, Emil and Henry Collodi; and three sisters, Fosca Pampaloni, Bea Caravaggio and Bruna Balsera. Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME of Lower Burrell.
