Harry, as he was known to his family and friends was a gentle quiet man. He was born in Manhattan in 1900 and moved to Canarsie, Brooklyn in 1910 when he was 10 years old. Although we his family always considered him the oldest of his 11 siblings, he did have one older sibling, a brother William, 1898-1904. Uncle Harry was for many years the patriarch of the Locke family. He was drafted in WWII at age 42 and served his country in the US Army, (on the day of his funeral a US flag adorned his coffin in honor of that service). He worked as a printer in NYC for many years and sadly died from colon cancer just one month after he retired from his profession. He loved his family dearly and was very protective of those he loved. For many years he drove a 1956 Plymouth Belvedere, in two tones of green. When his neice Francie married in 1959 he loaned Francie and her new husband Sonny the use of his car for their honeymoon. He always would try to help any member of his family whenever he could. He was generous and very loving. Uncle Harry sat at the head of our table in the dining room. He was named after his father who passed away in 1947 (almost to the day), and looked very much like his father. After all these years later, Uncle Harry is still remembered, missed and mourned by all that knew and loved him. Rest in Peace Uncle Harry and watch over those of us that are left until we're all together again.
