Dr. Sydney Brooks May, 63 of Eminence, died Saturday at the Henry County Clinic in Eminence. Dr. May was a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Louisville Medical School and had practiced medicine in Eminence since 1947.
He was a Veteran of WWII, attaining the rank of captain. He was a member of the Eminence Christian Church, chairman of the Henry County Board of Health, and past president of the medical staff of King's Daughters Hospital, Shelbyville.
He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Mary Z. Noe, Eminence; one son: S. Brooks May, Jr., Crestwood; three daughters: Mrs. James W. Jackson, Prospect, Mrs. John J. Heher, Jeffersonville and Mrs. Wayne T. Roberts, Georgetown; six grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. William Fuller, Selma, Alabama, Mrs. Sam Graves, Demopolis, Alabama, Mrs. E. A. Moore, Greensboro, Alabama and Mrs. J. T. Holman, Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers: J. T. May, Kansas City, Kansas and E. B. May, Huntsville, Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18th at the Eminence Christian Church. Rev. Eddy Phenix, pastor, officiated. Private graveside services were held at Shady Lawn Memorial Gardens with Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence, in charge of the arrangements.
