Dr. Phillip M. McKinney, 70, of Edwardsville, Ill., born June 7, 1947, in West Salem, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in St. Louis, Mo.
Phil was a 1971 graduate of the University of Illinois, School of Veterinary Medicine. He and Dr. Paul Myer owned and operated the Hawthorne Animal Hospital in both Glen Carbon and Troy, Ill. He practiced a vocation he loved for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Marti), nee Miller, McKinney; stepmother, Shirley, nee Reynolds, McKinney; and brother, Jed McKinney.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane, nee Lear, McKinney, whom he married September 7, 1968; sons, Ted (Lindsay) McKinney of Edwardsville, Ill. and Micah McKinney of Hamel, Ill.; father, Merle Ted McKinney of West Salem, Ill.; sister, Judy (Jim) Maris of Ballwin, Mo.; brothers, Ted McKinney of West Salem, Ill., Craig (Connie) McKinney of West Salem, Ill. and Jason (Trish) McKinney of West Salem, Ill.; his grandson, Nolan Phillip McKinney; and 19 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and nephews.
