MAYSVILLE, OKLAHOMA — A celebration of the life of Bernadine "Bernie" Mary Elizabeth McCurtain is set for Friday at the Abundant Love Church with Rev. Danny Gamble officiating with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville.

Mrs. McCurtain died at the Purcell Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Muenster to Ben and Helen Lutkenhaus, the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1948. In 1953, she married Mitchell McCurtain and moved to Maysville, Okla., where she spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker. She also worked in the restaurant and manufacturing industry. In 1991, she retired from Storm Plastics. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay.

Survivors: her husband of 53 years, Mitchell of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Rita McCurtain of Yukon, Okla., and Troy McCurtain of Lafayette, La.; daughter, Deana McCurtain of Maysville, Okla.; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Regina Lawson of Gainesville, Lucille "Snookie" Spikes of Dothan, Ala., Rosalie Johnson of White Oak, and Marcella Brown of Waco; and brother, David Lutkenhaus of Gainesville.

Preceded in death by sons, John Allen in 1971 and Frankie Dale in 1976; step-daughter Darla Sue Fricker in 1988; her parents, Ben and Helen Lutkenhaus; and brothers, Tony and Raymond Lutkenhaus.
