CIVIL WAR VETERAN
He owned a farm near College Grove, TNThomas Perkins was a baby when his parents died at "Mount View". He was raised by uncles and aunts until adulthood. On 5 July 1854 he would marry Jane C. Marshall, daughter of Frances Crockett and John Marshall. Jane and Tom Allison became the parents of two daughters, Loula (or Louisa) and Margaret. After a few years in Williamson County the Allisons moved to Tunica County, MS, where they established a large cotton plantation. Jane died in the late 1850's and Tom returned to Tennessee at the start of the War Between the States.

His had a remarkable military record, serving under Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and Gen. Tyree Harris in 4th TN Cal. Thomas would attain the rank of major by the end of the war.

During at time during the war, Tom was stationed at Bolivar, TN, where he met Clara Bills, a daughter of Prudence Tate McNeal and Major John Houston Bills. They were married ans settled at College Grove following the war. In 1867, Tom purchased his brother's (James) half of the Allison property at "Mount View" and became full owner of the 850 acre plantation.

Major Tom Allison served in the Tennessee State Legislature and was twice named Commissioner of State Agriculture.

After Tom's death in 1913, Clara Allison sold the old plantation to Robert P. Thurman.
