John Joseph Baillio, 93, a member of a prominent Rapides parish family, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday in an Alexandria nursing home. He was the grandson of Pierre Baillio, owner of Kent House.

He spend more than 40 years in the law enforcement field, and since 1907 served as deputy U.S. marshal, a deputy sheriff for Rapides Parish, and when he retired in 1948 was a detective for the City of Alexandria. He was one of the first officers to work in the juvenile field.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Belle Baillio, a son, Carl J. Baillio of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. W.B. Spencer of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Ralph L. Carpenter of Hammond; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held at 2:30 p.m. today in St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with services in Greenwood Memorial Park under direction of Hixson Bros., Alexandria.
