Jean M. (John) Bourget, 75, of Southington, died peacefully in the presence of his family on July 29, 2011, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus. He was the loving husband of Suzanne (Ouellet) Bourget for 50 years.He was born in Quebec, Canada, on Nov. 22, 1935, to the late Adjutor and Yvonne (Martineau) Bourget. He had been a resident of Connecticut since 1963. A natural toolmaker for most of his life, he was the founder of Custom Metal Crafters in Newington. He gradually handed over operations and ownership of the company to his children Lynn and Daniel, who have had the great honor of working with their father for 15 years. His life was devoted to his wife and family. He was a selfless man, always thinking of others first. Besides spending time with his family and friends, he passionately tended to his home floral garden and was an avid tennis player, golfer and sailor.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn Clemente, and his son, Daniel Bourget and daughter-in-law, Teri Bourget, all of Southington; seven grandchildren, Suzanne, Joseph and Rachel Clemente, Jean-Luc and Maile Bourget, Daniel and Celeste Sivori; and one great-grandson, Jacob Clemente; a sister, Suzanne Bourget, of Levis, Quebec; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Rene Bourget. The family is grateful for the love and support of John's longtime friends and neighbors, James and Mary Ellen Carey. Additionally, the family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff on N2 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus, and the Wolfson Palliative Care team for their care and compassion for Jean and his family.The funeral was held Aug. 6, 2011, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, to St. Dominic Church, for a Mass. Burial was at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Wolfson Palliative Care of Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General, 100 Grand St., New Britain, CT 06052.
