DOROTHY E RAYFIELD
Dorothy Elizabeth Rayfield, age 55, daughter of the late Gladys Grisham Dye and Benjamin Beckem Dye, was born in Braggadocio, Mo. on Dec. 26, 1939. She departed this life at her residence in Ellington, Mo., on Oct. 21, 1995.
On December 27, 1959 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Dorothy was united in marriage to Douglas Rayfield, to his loving union two children were born. Dorothy was a 1957 graduate of Cape Central High School. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1964. She received her library certification from SEMO in 1973. She also received a masters degree in from SEMO in 1986. Dorothy was a housewife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Ellington United Methodist Church, the Reynolds County Library Board, the Otahki Girl Scout Council Board, The Ellington Garden Club, and Missouri State Teachers Association. Dorothy taught school for Southern Reynolds County R-II for 29 years. She was Spanish Club, Beta Club and senior class sponsor.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Gladys Dye, one son, Douglas Rayfield, Jr., one sister, Rebecca Dye. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Douglas Rayfield of Ellington; one daughter, Cindy Clark and her husband Keith, their two children, Callie and Scott, all of Van Buren; four sisters: Florence Morrow of St. Louis, Margie White of Greensboro, N.C.; Betty Lind of Omro, Wisc. and Alice Dye of Cape Girardeau. Dorothy will be sadly missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held at the Ellingotn First Baptist Church Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1995 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Ellington City Cemetery. Minister was Kenneth McIntosh. Music was by Dixie and David Tremaine. Pallbearers were Mark Parker, Harold Fox, Ronald Roy, Steven, David, and Kenney Morrison.
Arrangements were by McSpadden Funeral Homes, Inc. of Ellington.
