Martha Ann Eliza Bush was born on September 8, 1843. She was the daughter of Joseph Andrew Bush (1817-1883) and Mary Ann Redmond (1825-1888). She was the first wife of John Allen Adams (1845-1925). They were married in Barbour County, Alabama, on December 13,1865. John Allen and Martha Ann Adams had four children: Lonnie A. Adams (1868-1869); Mary Alice Adams (1872-1946); Andrew Lewis Adams (1874-1940); and Cicero Rollin Adams (1876-1959). Martha died at age 33, on July 5, 1877. The place and cause of death is unknown and her grave location is also unknown. Martha preceded her parents in death. She was probably buried in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery at Eufaula, Alabama. The Epworth church and cemetery was very close to the Adams home place at Eufaula, Alabama. Other members of the Adams and Bush families, including her father and mother, were buried in the Epworth UMC Cemetery. Nevertheless, a headstone or record to confirm the disposition of her remains is missing and presumed unrecoverable.
