Norfolk Daily News - July 18, 2017

NORFOLK — Services for Sharon E. Abbenhaus, 74, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. The Rev. Terry Buol will officiate. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Battle Creek.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

She died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Norfolk.

1942-2017

The daughter of Earl and Grace (Miller) Hoskinson was born Aug. 3, 1942, in rural Norfolk. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1960, then graduated from Norfolk Junior College in 1962 with a secretarial degree.

She married Dick Abbenhaus on June 13, 1965, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Sharon and Dick lived in Norfolk. Sharon worked for attorney, Tom Brogan, in Norfolk. In 1971, Sharon and Dick moved west of Norfolk. In 1995, they moved back to into town. Sharon enjoyed her pet dogs, playing the organ, canning and collecting dolls.

Sharon was a devoted spouse and mother toward her children. She was a farm manager and caretaker at the farm raising hogs, while her spouse, Dick, was at work.

Survivors include a son, Pat Abbenhaus and girlfriend JoEllen McCord of Pierce and daughters Beth Abbenhaus of Pierce and Becky Abbenhaus of Norfolk.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Dick, in 1999, and her parents, Earl and Grace.

Music will be provided by organist Emilie Harrison and soloist Rick Higgins. Casketbearers will be Mark Bazyn, Joe Ludemann, Mike Ludemann, Steve Ludemann and Eric Rogat. Honorary casketbearers will be Don Bazyn, Tom Abbenhaus, Nancy Soukup and Lyn Westerhold.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Northeast Nebraska Animal Shelter.
