SHACKLEY, NORMA LUELLA Norma was born September 16, 1922 in East San Diego, and passed away March 24, 2004, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, San Diego, where she was a career staff nurse for nearly 20 years. Working through World War II in retail and rock quarry operations in the Orange County area, Norma married in 1941, and had two sons Steven and Richard in 1949 and 1952 respectively. Living most of her life in east San Diego County, she began a new career in nursing after finishing her Practical Nursing degree. After working in various San Diego hospitals, she finished her 20-year career at Kaiser-Permanente hospital in San Diego in 1987, as Supervisor of Central Supply. Norma, fond and adept at gardening, also cared for abandoned tortoises, and was a member of the San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society. A wonderful mother and friend, Norma will be missed by many. She will be interred at Greenwood Memorial Park. A private memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society, P.O.
