James Oliver Abbott and his wife, the former Ella Frances Heddin, welcomed an infant son on 16 December, 1893, in Rushville, Illinois. They named their baby son Guy Abbott.

Guy Abbott worked as a roofer and later he was employed by International Shoe company. He belonged to St. Rose Catholic church.

Viola Geist became his bride, 1 January 1931 in Palmyra, Missouri.

Guy J. Abbott passed away at a Quincy Illinois hospital just barely into Wednesday, his birthday morning, 16 December 1959. Both his parents as well as a daughter named Ella Elizabeth Abbott, predeceased him.

Monsignor P. J. Fox led funeral services held at St. Rose Catholic church in Quincy, Illinois. Interment took place at Calvary cemetery in Quincy.
