Dorothy "Dot" Schmidt, 85, of Longview died on July 5, 2017, in Longview. She was born on June 6, 1932, in Jerome County, Idaho, to Brown and Ora (Ely) Martin.
She graduated high school in Hood River, OR, in 1950 and on May 15, 1953, she married Don Schmidt. In 1956 she and Don moved to Longview where they raised their three children. She was a homemaker, volunteered at Community Home Health and Hospice for several years, and was an active member of the First Church Of God in Longview.
Surviving are her husband, Don; two sons, Stan Schmidt (Martha) of Kelso and Stuart Schmidt of Longview; a daughter, Aleina Dingman (Dan) of Battleground, WA; a sister, Verla May Sousa (Gene) of Jantzen Beach, OR; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by a brother, Bill Martin.
