JEANE B. MESSINGER, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born December 2, 1931, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carl L. and Lennie R. Byrd Baumgardner. A son, Karl Stephen Saunders, also preceded her in death. Jeane graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in History. She retired after teaching for more than 40 years for the Cabell County Board of Education, having taught at West Junior High School and Huntington East High School. She was an avid animal lover, especially her beloved dog, Justin. She was very patriotic and was a staunch member of the Republican Party. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Messinger-King and Stephen L. King, of Gahanna, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Raben K. Crisel of Huntington; a niece and her husband, Angela and Wesley Thacker of Huntington; a great-niece, Amanda Thacker; and her best friend, Mary Wisinsky of Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with the Rev. Leigh A. Fuller, S.J., officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Pallbearers will be Stephen L. King, Wesley Thacker, Bob Hogsett, and Edward Workman.
