There were two Milda Josephines born to Johan and Helene Hegnes.

There are 3 Hegnes children who died while infants and are buried at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery South next to the church. The church is located about 10 miles south of Canton and NE of Norway Center, SD.

The infant graves surround a four-sided obelisk that is written in Norwegian.
* The west side of the obelisk states that the children's parents are Helen and Johanes Hegnes.
* The east side of the obelisk has Edvin's name/date (1882) and is near a small tablet with his name.
* The north side of the obelisk has Milda's name/date (1889) on it and close by is a small tablet with her name on it.
* The south side of the obelisk has Nora Klaudine's name/date (1894) and is also near a small tablet with her name on it.

There are 3 other Hegnes graves next to the infant graves. They are the graves of Peter (d. 1944), Mathias (d. 1947) and Helmer (d. 1954).

The parent's graves are located at Canton Lutheran Cemetery which is NE of Canton, SD.
