Helen Louise Beaver Beckett, 82 of Hurricane, entered into her Savior’s arms on July 23, 2017 at home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 2, 1934, the youngest child of the late Charles Wesley and Vesta Lovejoy Beaver, Helen was a graduate of Hurricane High School Class of 1952 where she was a cheerleader.

In 1956 she married the love of her life, Billy Ray Beckett, to whom she was married for 53 years, until his death in 2010. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and active in supporting her children in all of their other extra-curricular activities. She retired from Elder Beerman where she was a Department Manager. A member of Union Baptist Church, Milton, WV, she was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was a strong-willed woman who loved her family dearly. She lived her final days with her family by her side as she was always by theirs.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Wesley Beaver and her stepmother, Emma Frances Beaver.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, The Rt. Rev. Michael R. Beckett and his husband, Scott Brown, Pastor Gregory M. Beckett and his wife, Candy, Jennifer L. Beckett Burton and her husband, Will, and Hope Hinrichs and her husband, Keith. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zachary R. Burton, Austin Hinrichs, and Mitchell Hinrichs, as well as her brother, Bill Beaver, and his wife Jean, as well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Blueridge Staff of Teays Valley Center for their love and care in Helen’s final months to Susan, April, and Kristen of HospiceCare for their kindness in Helen’s final days.

Funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Rick Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
