Eleanor 'Jane' Althoff
Aug. 7, 1931 - May 14, 2017
Eleanor "Jane" Althoff was born Aug. 7, 1931, and passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at age 85.
Jane was born and raised in St. Marys, Ohio. She graduated as Class Valedictorian from Memorial High School. She received her nursing degree from Detroit Nursing School. She moved to Portland in 1955 and after years spent in the home taking care of her family, eventually returned to work as a registered nurse. She worked for Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital for 25 years. Late in her career Jane earned a Bachelor's degree in order to work in management as she wanted to undertake that challenge. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and hours pursuing her greatest passion, which was tending to her beautiful landscape at her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Fincham (Joe); son, Kirk Althoff (Mary); and daughter, Lisa Beattie (Bruce); as well as her three grandchildren, Sarah Beattie, Jacob Beattie, and Aaron Althoff.
In addition to the others involved in caring for Mom, the family would especially like to thank Simona Matia and her staff at Garden Home Senior Care for their kind and compassionate care of Mom.
A graveside service, with reception following, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at River View Cemetery, 0300 S.W. Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, OR 97219.
For remembrances, donations may be made to the Oregon Food Bank or the American Cancer Society.
