Florence Clerice Szamatula, age 88, passed away Jan. 9, 2000, in Viewcrest Nursing Home, Duluth, Minnesota. Florence was born on 29 July 1911 in Spooner, Wisconsin to Fred Joseph Akey and Nellie (Webster) Akey.
Florence had lived in the Hermantown area her entire life. She formerly worked as a seamstress for Duluth Tent and Awning for five years and had also farmed in Hermantown. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and Excelsior Rebekah Lodge 59.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted in 1993; a brother, Keith Todd; and a sister, Ina. She was survived by four brothers; and two sisters. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery, Duluth, Minnesota.
