Millard W. Downs, 87, of 496 Caroline Drive. Died: 7 a.m. Wednesday, Chillicothe Hospital, following an extended illness. Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ware Funeral Home. Calling hours: at the funeral after 4 p.m. Friday, Burial: Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe.

Survivors: wife, Elizabeth Moody Downs; two sons, James F., Mt. Sterling, and Thomas D., Route 8; nine daughters, Mrs. Margaret Boystel, Mrs. David (Mary) Austin, and Mrs., Floyd (Opal) Fauble, all of Lancaster, Mrs. Violet Graves, with whom he lived: Mrs. Herbert (Florence) McDanlel Sr., 349 E.
